Gumus Design Group is a multidisciplinary design firm focused on digital design, print, branding, identities, environmental graphic design, donor recognition, signage master plan development, and wayfinding, located in the New York metropolitan area.

We believe that the beauty of every project lies in its own unique set of challenges, and it is the result of the creative and collaborative processes that makes our work exciting and rewarding. We utilize classic principles to generate powerful, and well thought out design solutions specific for each project. We offer our many years of experience working at NY design agencies to our clients.

Leadership

Rion BYRD

Principal, GDG

Rion graduated from the University of North Texas, with a BFA in Communication Design.

She started her career with an internship in Dallas, at David Carter Design Associates. This lead her to work for esteemed firms such as Whitehouse and Company, Tracey Turner, Ralph Applebaum, Opto Design, and Pentagram Design. During her 10+ years at Pentagram she was able to work closely with Michael Bierut, Paula Scher and other principals including Michael Gericke, Lisa Strausfeld, and Jim Biber on a variety of projects: Lower Manhattan Wayfinding, Bloomberg Headquarters, BAM, High Line, Shake Shack, Museum of Arts and Design, Dallas Museum of Art, FIT and more.

Rion is also active in the local design community and her work has been recognized by Art Directors Club, SEGD, AIGA, IDSA and multiple printed publications and annuals including Print, Graphis, and ID magazines.

Remzi gumus

Partner, GDG

Remzi graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology, with a BS in Communication, and he did his MFA at the University of Cincinnati's School of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning.

Remzi started his career at Stein Rogan and Partners during the dot com boom. He has since held various design and art direction positions in his 10+ years at award winning NY agencies: R/GA, McGarryBowen and HUGE. During this time Remzi worked on many different clients: Epic Games, Comcast, American Express, HP, Morgan Stanley, Pizza Hut, Gucci, Exxon Mobil, iShares (by Blackrock), Verizon Wireless, Chase, Reuters, Nike, Sharp, Crayola, SCJ, Purina, CheapTickets and Northrop Grumman. Experienced in large scale projects, Remzi is well versed in digital product design, responsive design, advertising design, branding, identity projects, print design, design for social media channels, style guide creation and photo or video shoots. 

Remzi is the recipient of a Web Marketing Association Web Award, and he was a Webby Awards, Official Honoree for his work on the original Verizon Wireless Droid campaign.
